I humbly invite you to 'KRISHNA GANGA'-  of  National integration Series,  A Bharatanatyam Dance Production by SUNAINA ( Society for the Upliftment of National Arts of India). The innovative dance pieces are choreographed to the rare and divine musical compositions of Sangeet Samrat Bade Ramdas ji of Benaras Gharana, 19th century trend setter vageykara of Hindustani Classical Music. Smt R Aruna Sri has associated as vocalist and Resource Person in the making of this Dance presentation.Do come and witness this unique production.

Sangeet Samrat Bade Ramdas ji of  Banaras

Trend setter, 19 th century Vageyakara of Hindustani Classical Music

The historic city of Kashi has been the place of birth of many enlightened souls, music masteros and yogis. In the last quarter of 19^th century there lived a musical mastero in this city who revived the Kheyal Gayaki tradition of Banaras Gharana. Sangeet Samrat Bade Ramdas Mishra ji is the foremost Guru of Banaras Gharana, who was responsible for developing the Kheyal gayaki style of Banaras Gharana.He enjoyed the patronage of the King of Nepal.  He developed a unique type of Kheyal Gayaki, adhering closely to Sangeet shastras.  His compositions had the mudhra “raamdas ke mohan pyare”, ”ramdas ke govind swami”  etc. He has also composed some  dadras. Chaturang which is rare to get to hear nowadays have also been composed by him. Some of his compositions in raagas like Abhogi Kaanada, Rageshri, Desi, Raamdasi Mallhar are unique and worth tremendous research in terms of meaning and musical content.Towards the later part of his life he settled down at Banaras (Kaashi) and taught many students.  Two of his students Chote Ramdas and Pandit Jalpa Prasad Mishraji developed to be prominent musicians carrying forward his legacy .

The  semi classical musical form, Thumri enjoyed great support of the audience in the 20th century. This discouraged musicians from taking up to Kheyal Gayaki seriously.  Still, Pt Jalpa Prasad Mishraji dedicated his life to carry forward the Kheyal tradition of his maternal grandfather, Bade Ramdas ji. After his demise his foremost student Pt. Narendra Kumar Jha (who accompanied Jalpaji in concerts for nearly 03 decades) continues to glorify the tradition.  He has his masters in musicology from Banaras Hindu University.

Since 2004, Smt R Aruna Sri, came under his tutelage, after learning from Agra Gharana for 05 years. In her debut performance at Ganga Ghat in 2007 her presentation reminded art connoisseurs’ that Bade Raamdas Gharana has survived the test of time. With her Guru she cofounded BRAAMIC (Bade Ramdas Academy of Arts, Music and Indian Culture) and the Bhaghirathi Trust for promoting the Bade Ramdas tradition at National as well as International levels. Ganga Seva Nidhi (NGO) & Kanchi Mutt of Varanasi supported this cause to move forward.

BRAAMIC has been conducting yearly music festivals known as “Sangeet Samrat Bade Ramdas ji Smruthi Aaradhana “ for the past six years.

BRAAMIC organised a workshop on Music Therapy, Dance Therapy and Sai Sanjeevani on 16th and 17th February at Prashanthi Dham Sai Mandir, Sector - 9, Dwarka, New Delhi. The eight hour workshop had 12 participants from all age groups learning to adopt Holistic Welness in their lives. 
    Music and Dance Therapy workshop was conducted by Mrs.R Aruna Sri and Sai Sanjeevani workshop was conducted by Dr. Kanchan Kapur. Mrs. Indira Mahanobolis senior fellow, Ministry of Culture was a special guest in the workshop.

Bade Ramdas Academy of Arts Music & Indian Culture

BRAAMIC was established on 23NOV2008 with a modest purpose of bringing diminishing music styles and art forms close to the lives of people and reviving them. On 16Jan2009 it was registered as a unit of Bhagirathi Trust, Varanasi.

Primary activity:
We conduct Music therapy in association with various other NGO's.
So far we have conducted Music Therapy sessions in Bangalore, Mysore And New Delhi for Special Children, Orphaned Children, Cancer Patients, Several Self Development Groups(Ladies) and Drug De-addiction centres.Organisations interested in organising Music Therapy may contact us.
So far we have done long term  Music Therapy projects with
HCG- Bangalore, Prerana -Mysore, Chetana Special School- Mysore, Chayadevi Anathalaya- Mysore, Muskan Drug De-addiction Centre- New Delhi, Jail No.6, Central Jail, Tihar ( in associatin with Muskan Foundation). A short term project also was done with Bal Vihar Orphanage-New Delhi)

Annual Event:
1.To pay tributes to the Music Genius of Banaras,our foremost Guru Bade Ramdas a function called
Sangeeth samrat Bade Ramdas Smruthi Aaradhana is conducted every year.

2.Also Sampradhaya Harinaama Sankeertana is taught to childern in a workshop conducted every year for two months from end of December to mid of February. The students who participated in this workshop together with the Guru's perform an event. So far we have done events like Radha Kalyanam (Musically woven event) in 2012, Ambaal Divyanaamam every Navrathri since 2012 and  Valli Kalyanam (Feb2013 and Feb2014).In the year 2015 the ongoing workshop is on Meenakshi Kalyanam.
